Your data, explained
OwnSpace Privacy Policy
Updated: 15 October 2026 · Application 1.12.11
Data on your device
OwnSpace stores belongings, collections, purchases, household bills, photos, attached documents, warranty reminders, maintenance tasks and preferences locally. Optional Gmail import caches relevant message content on the device. Manual use does not require an OwnSpace password or an online backup.
Optional Google sign-in and Gmail access
Google sign-in identifies the account used for import and recovery. Gmail access is separately requested with read-only authorization. The app searches likely purchase-related emails, downloads useful evidence to the device and organises records. It does not send, delete or modify your emails. Access tokens are held in memory, not stored in backup files. You can disconnect in Settings or revoke permission in your Google account.
Optional Premium purchase
If you buy Premium, Google Play handles checkout and payment. OwnSpace sends the purchase token and your verified account identity to its Cloudflare Worker. The Worker checks the purchase with the Google Play Developer API and stores the token against your OwnSpace account to restore access and recheck refunds or revocations. A Google Play test purchase is identified from Google's response. OwnSpace does not receive your payment card details. Removing local data or uninstalling does not delete a Play purchase or its server-side entitlement.
Optional AI processing
If you enable AI purchase analysis, relevant purchase-email excerpts are sent over HTTPS to the OwnSpace Cloudflare Worker, placed in a temporary processing queue and sent to Google Gemini to resolve purchase details. Temporary job state and results allow the analysis to finish after the app closes and are retained only for delivery and operational recovery. If you explicitly choose AI invoice scanning, the selected document or image is sent to those services. Local organisation and manual entry remain available without AI. If you separately enable the Groq text backup, purchase-email excerpts, extracted attachment text and product classification evidence may be sent to Groq when Gemini is temporarily unavailable or rate limited. Raw PDFs and images remain with Gemini. Disabling the backup affects newly submitted requests; already submitted background jobs retain their original authorization. Provider processing is subject to the configured services and their applicable terms.
Technical information such as IP address, request time and a random installation identifier may be used for service operation and rate limiting. Gmail access tokens are not sent to or stored by the OwnSpace Worker.
Optional currency conversion
If you choose a converted display currency, OwnSpace downloads public reference exchange rates from Frankfurter. Purchase records, amounts and Gmail content are not sent to that service; conversion is performed locally on your device. The provider receives ordinary technical request information such as IP address.
Optional private Google Drive backup
With separate Drive permission, the app stores recovery files in the application's private appDataFolder in your own Google Drive. The app does not request access to other Drive documents and creates no public sharing link. A backup contains application records, purchase metadata, saved analysis and preferences. Photos and documents are included when you select that option. Cached email bodies and extracted attachment text are included only when you explicitly enable that separate backup option. Google access tokens are never included. Backups containing email evidence may contain personal information.
Backups are verified using a checksum. They are not end-to-end encrypted by a separate OwnSpace password. Local JSON exports must also be kept private. Online copies use your Google account's storage and are subject to Google's security and retention controls.
Automatic backup is opt-in on each phone. It runs while the app is open or when you return and data has changed, not continuously while Android has stopped the app. Older versions are retained; the app shows up to 100 recent copies. This is backup and recovery, not live synchronisation across phones.
Your controls and deletion
You can edit or delete items and documents, export a backup, disconnect Gmail, disable automatic backups, or delete all local application data in Settings after confirmation. A recovery copy is retained locally before a restore. Deleting local data also removes that recovery copy, but does not delete existing Drive backups. App-specific Drive data can be managed through Google Drive's application settings. Removing the app's Drive data can destroy online recovery copies.
Android system backup is disabled for OwnSpace. Uninstalling or losing the phone removes access to its local data; recovery requires an existing verified Drive backup or a local export. Sign-in alone cannot recover data that was never backed up.
Sharing and security
OwnSpace does not display advertising or sell personal data. Google provides identity, Gmail and optional Drive services; Cloudflare and Google Gemini process explicitly enabled AI requests; Groq processes separately authorized text backup requests; Frankfurter provides optional exchange-rate data. No service can guarantee absolute security. The app is not directed to children.
